A Daily Routine That Actually Protects Your Teeth
Good oral care is not complicated. It is a handful of habits, done properly, every day. Consistency matters far more than buying the most expensive product on the shelf.
Brush twice, properly
Twice a day, two minutes each time, with a fluoride toothpaste. Use a soft brush and angle the bristles slightly toward the gum line, where plaque collects. Work in small circles rather than scrubbing hard — pressure does not clean better, it only wears enamel and gums. An electric brush helps many people simply because the timer keeps them going for long enough.
Clean between the teeth
A brush cannot reach the surfaces where two teeth touch, and that is exactly where decay and gum problems often start. Floss, interdental brushes or a water flosser all work; the best one is the one you will actually use daily.
Spit, do not rinse
After brushing, spit out the excess toothpaste but avoid rinsing with water straight away. Rinsing washes away the fluoride that has just been applied to your teeth.
Watch frequency, not just quantity
It is how often sugar reaches your teeth that drives decay, more than the total amount. Sipping a sweet drink across an hour is harder on teeth than drinking it in a few minutes. Water between meals is the safest habit you can build.
And the part people skip
Even a perfect routine leaves some hardened deposits that only a professional clean can remove, and some problems are invisible until a dentist looks. Keep up your checkups at the interval your dentist recommends.
